Organizational Politics is a distorting shadow that can taint much of what takes place within the enterprise. We all sense it, believe we know it when we see it, and generally claim to hate it…..unless, of course, it happens to benefit us. But the simple fact is that most folks do not understand organizational politics, and are far more likely to be victims of organizational politics, than skilled practioners.
It is our goal to end this victimization but, in keeping with our maxim of "Do Some Good", we want to do so without turning folks into political operators. In this vcast we begin this process by surveying the four general forms of organizational politics, discussing how organizational politics affects us and introducing the three levers that can be used to counter political behavior in the workplace. Later vcasts will delve into specific manifestations of organizational politics and how your can cope, deter and even prevent such behavior.
